Hey, hello, how's it, shalom, namaste, how are you? So guess what? We're back to music videos, a blast from the past, huh? So if it wasn't even more of a blast from the past, we've also got the old crew, with Jason Hoy, Linden I guess... AND YOURS TRULY! MICAH MILLER! So yeah, we chose Paul Engemann's Push it to the Limit, aka the defining scarface song, and well, it's gonna be fun. We chose it because, well, it's just such a fun and exciting song, there's so much room to do amazing stuff, because the lyrics already tell a story, and it's pretty easy to take the lyrics into a more abstract story, so yeah, efficiency, and fun would be the reason we choose it.
Sooooo, Yeah! In our Music Video, we decided on the storyline being about a super hero who isn't meeting the criteria, SO HE MUST TRAIN TO BECOME SUPER-ER. Now you may be saying, "Micah? Now how does this relate to Push it to the Limit" Well I noticed the lyrics had a very stable plot line, and in that there was a lot of correlation between the my idea and the song. For example, in the beginning.
Open up the limit/Past the point of no return/You've reached the top but still you gotta learn/How to keep it, that's when the superhero gets the message that he isn't saving enough people. So basically, that's how we're relating it to the lyrics.
So I feel that this music video really does showcase our best work, why? We'll let me tell you. First off, the lip sync is far better then the first music video, mostly because well... I actually sang the song, we just muted it, far easier to match it up though. Second of all, sequence, our shot sequences make sense and well maybe it's a matter of opinion, but I think that they're pretty interesting. And thirdly, just the song choice, I mean seriously, what kind of idiot chooses a parody of a Michael Jackson to lip sync to, like, seriously? Well that's... This might be my last blog post on this blog, I hope it isn't but well, I can't promise you much, school ends on Friday, and to High School we go, so if anyone's reading this, cheers, it was a pretty damn good three years.
This is Micah thinking of a sentimental ending... S#*t.

So hey, hola, how's it, it happens to be Micah here with a new blog post, so read on why don't'ya. So in GT! We're doing a movie trailer! (again) I mean, this would be more need for celebration but I don't really like the idea we're working on. The idea is about a dude stranded on a mysterious island, you know, like stranded, lost, forgotten, or every other two dollar book story, pretty cliché, WELL IT WOULD BE! If there wasn't magical glasses that allow you to see shadows!.. Wait, isn't that another movies plo-
-ell, my main way of helping is by writing, because I'm a pretty fair jack of all trades, but I'm very (subjectively) good at writing. And of course, pitching in for the parts that are assigned to me, so yeah, so far, so good.
So, while that was a lot of venting, let's talk about our process. So first off, we could not schedule a good filming session, period. Mainly due to everyone's pre existing obligations, however it seems like my other teammates were able to, I didn't join because my mom took me out of school early to go on a vacation. However there's also the problem of conflicting opinions, which while not slowing creating the video, did make it a bit harder. And enough talking about the negative, we managed to get a numerous amounts of very interesting shot types, which if you didn't already know, is a good thing. Huh, well thats all I can think off the top of my head, so, onto the thrilling conclusion!
So, by the time I'm writing this, the critique has passed and honestly? We did pretty damn well! I'm suprised myself, but I'm very glad that this has happened, I was very afraid because of how weird the team dynamic was that this one would be a flop, but how strange is it that it turned out to be the opposite. So, we got mostly the highest rating for our results. In fact, we didn't even get a single "One." Which was quite invigorating, there are some low score happy people in this room. But the thing that basically was the icing on the cake was that we were highest voted for best overall, until all votes came in and we tied with Survivors Angel, (Which is an amazing video, and I'll even link it... Right here.) But yeah, it was a truly awesome experience, and I guess the moral of the story is, don't judge based on past assumptions, people aren't always what you think they'll be.

So hey, hola, hello, greetings, how are you? So today in GT, we're doin' Animations! You know, the thing we did a year or two back? Feel free to search my blog for it. But enough of that, our goal is to make an intresting, creative, and high quality video that states the whole idea of the video, an event that causes growth and change for the subject, metaphorically or litterally, but in our case a bit of both. We'll be using a program known as Stykz to animate, it uses "Stick-Men" figures as the subject
So our focus statement, rock sprouts flower, know you may be thinkin' to yourself, "What?" and in that case our sentiments are pretty much mutual. But let me get into explaining, it's meant to be about how if you care and believe in something enough it will blossom, because a girl picks up the rock she finds on the beach and takes care of it, you know. So our extravagant story begins with the rock being thrown into the ocean, because no one likes it, et cetera. So now we skip to the protagonist, Taylor who finds the poor soul (Soul? I don't know, seems sentient, can rocks have souls?) washed up (ha) and lonely on the beach, with a seed in it from when it was kicked, so after it's taken in there's multiple shots of the rock being included in her everyday activities, like going to school and surfing, and after all that is done, from all the love and care, the rock sprouts a a beaaauuutiful flower, and thats about it. Also, even though it's a pretty outdated term, still a better love story then Twilight.
So yeah, our animation wasn't perfect, I mean I can't complain too much, for most part I worked on the music. But our results? Fair. I mean for what's basically an overall three it's pretty darn good results, I was worried we'd get something amounting to a two, or even worse, a one. But anyways enough of my perfectionist BS (Brilliant Sayings) I'm really happy about the fact that we got a 2.8 on clarity, because truthfully, even though I was told, I couldn't really follow what was happening, I can definitely see why Props and Execution are fairly high, we did a fairly great job on that, and that isn't BS (Blurred Synonyms).
This is Micah Miller and I'm signing ooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu- .... . -.-- -.-- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---, it's me, Micaroon with another blog full of morse, name puns, and subtle meta references. SO IN GT, we're making geometric portraits, you know, not like the title says it, but still let's look into the portrait part. So portraits everyone knows them, probably, it's a picture of your face, or painting of your face, or someone else's face, but really the way the face shows emotion has to be the most fascinating part of it. Like think about it, seriously think, your face is easily your best asset in communication, and while in some countries some things might have different meanings for most part, a smile means a smile. So yeah, think of all the facial motions you can think of, compare them to a emotion that usually comes with it. So yeah! so really geometric portraits are really just, lining up shapes where they fit, in our case, triangles. BUT YEAH, basically it went like this. Step 1: Get the portrait, because you know, that's pretty necessary. Step 2: Outline the portrait, good to get an idea of where you should start making your shapes. Step 3: Start outlining the shapes, for the way we're doing it, you add the shapes later, but you do need the outlines first, in the second one we skipped step 2 and just started filling it in however, and then either take a color from inside the area selected, or just go >filter, average. Well lemme just say this. I think I did a pretty good job on my poly portraits, maybe not flawless but It's nothing too atrocious. But I do notice some differences, Like compared to my first one, my second poly portrait has waaaayyyy better usage of triangles, like, waaaaaaaaaeeeyy better. However in my Poly-1, my eyes looked way better then the other, but to be fair I was rushing to finish, and lastly my poly 1 is obviously way less vibrant, but, I guess that's a kinda neutral point.

So heyo, hi-o, hello, hõla, guten-tag, buenos dias, bonjour. It's me. So today in GT, we're gonna make some radical, sick, awesome, NATURE POETRY!
So yeah we are actually doing nature poetry. So before I get into the actual nature poetry project how about I tell you my two cents about nature eh?
So while I'm the type of person who'd enjoy staying on his computer more than anything else, I enjoy taking in some nature. However I feel like I'd be over exaggerating if i didn't add that I really only like some certain spots in nature, kokee definitely being one but I digress. Personally I feel nature helps me spiritually, As I said I'm the kind of person who'd enjoy his computer more than anything so exercise isn't well, a focus. But really, there's nothing better than overlooking a canyon, letting the air flow through you, and just feeling everything that was there. So yeah, sorry if this was a bit, underwhelming, but hey, trying my best.
Alright, now to the actual project, it involves poetry- -obviously- -and nature time lapses. Now, time lapses, and slow mo's seem pretty obvious to create right? But if you need a refresher, it's simply putting a camera in the right place, and waiting, waiting, and waiting. After that it's just sped up or slowed down, some edits put here and there, and usually you have yourself a time lapse. and congratulations, you now have a goat going super-speed.
Easily the hardest part about doing this all? Getting the actual footage. While opinions might vary and some people may say writing the poem might be the hardest, this for me, without a doubt was really hard. And heck, by the time I'm writing this I still don't have absolutely all of my footage. And the latest struggle was attempting to get the sunset, woke at 5:30, got to the beach by 6, and when the sun finally was visible, I wasn't able to get a good shot because it was going to fast for me to setup. Though favorite part, easily being in nature. In fact, yesterday to get a shot of the waves crashing against the beach, my mom and me packed dinner and I got to eat some french onion soup and watch the waves with a delicious dinner, that's awesome.
CRITIQUE TIME: Sooo... I wasn't actually there for my critique. But! I did get a summary, most people thought of it reaching the goals, and like 11 of them thought it went above and beyond, but let's be real here, it's hard to disagree with a man who has a voice like melted butter but yeah, what'd I'd give myself? Probably a two to three, I mean I read it amazingly, but I had to rely on backup clips to get enough footage. This is Micah, naturing awaaaaaayyyyy. HEY-O! Guess who's in eighth grade. (It's me) SO YEAH, how have you been? Good? Good, so for me, in GT we are making POETRY! So yeah, that's pretty cool, do you want to know what poetry is? Because I believe I gave a pretty good explanation earlier, not to you guys but, well, lemme just bring it up. "Poetry, at least to me, is reality emphasised by metaphors, and metaphors emphasised by reality. Where reality would make such works as “The Road Less Traveled” simply a man walking down a road that only some people take, with metaphors it also explains how roads can mean choices, and how some people can either enjoy or despise where they go. And while it could just be the choice less chosen, it’d not hold the weight it does now." So yeah, there's my interpretation of it, really anyone's perception isn't that wrong, so feel free to listen to whoever. I found my strange journey, Ravenous. The places I went were quite, Cavernous. Though a smile never left my, Face. I always found a new, Place. No more knowing, Safely. But I know I am near, Safety. Never before have I, Leapt. Never knowing the path, Left. I will not bite my nails in, Fear. As I know immortalization is, Near. Alright, so by now after reading that amazing poem, your socks should be blown off by the sheer amazingness, So here's some time to go get them.
Got them? Good, so, while most other poems probably are much better then mine, I consider myself an abstract thinker, aka, my cruddy reason for having a bad poem. But nah, I'm pretty proud of what I made, and if you haven't noticed I used two types of poem making, Alliteration and Rhyme, Fear & Near, Safely & Safety, Leapt & Left, even though the last one is a stretch. Now why did I do this? Well simply told it's just switching between rhyme and alliteration, and I tended to associate them with Important words, and spaced them out of the poems flow, basically forcing them as keywords. While I could have probably done this in a different way, or better, I'm very proud of what I have. Guess who it is, It's Micah, currently thinking of a funky way to sign out... Seeya.
Hey, guess whats coming up soon, less then two weeks away :3, It's an event I've been waiting for since the middle of school, THAT'S RIGHT.
My birthday. So hey, hello, buenos dias, something else that's a greeting, in GT today we are making (Another) music video, ANOTHER ONE, AND BEST OF ALL I GET TO ACTUALLY CHOOSE THE SONG, MAN I SHOULD REALLY TURN OF CAps lock, there we go. So if you haven't read my blog long enough and you don't know I'm just a massive asinine Hipster, I choose a song that is so old, that your grandfather probably jammed out to it, It's Johnny B. Goode. So yeah, honestly our song is more or less based around our lyrics, well, it was, kinda switched from that, more or less about a kid who gets bullied (If you didn't guess, it's Johnny.) get's advice from his friend, and so-so.
So yeah, our music video is pretty top notch when it comes to songs, I mean, assuming the popular opinion is in chuck berry's favor. But now I bet you are asking yourself, "Any cool filming tricks?" well, yes, and well no. Even with our top group of filming experts ( Linden.) we kinda had some trouble getting really good shots, not to say the whole video's bad, but there is always room for improvement in whatever is done. But yeah, some good shots, some mediocre shots, but never bad, so yeah. ALSO IT'S MY BIRTHDAY (May 17th.)
This music video is easily a good way of wrapping up all what we did and the skills we learned, how you may ask? let me tell you. One thing that Linden, Jason, and I learned from last year was lip synching, I believe for most of us that we nailed it. I think Linden definitely showed his skills in use when he was editing the film in IMovie, did a great job. we used some pretty creative shots, nothing that was truly awe inspiring but had some forethought put into it. So yeah, that's basically the gist of it, thanks for reading.
This is Micah, I'll see you again, in 8th grade :).
Heyo, welcome back to another majestic magnificent Monday (At least when I'm writing this) and the word of the day is no words, because I don't do that. So yeah, we animated a video, with the magical device known as photoshop, if you didn't see the last post... Go do, that. But yeah I was on a team with all girls, irrelevant fact but interesting none the less, we had to exaggerate character facts for the video and uh, well, I'm not sure how it really turned out, I don't know much about my teammates or what they were trying to show, I guess they got my personality mediocrely well, I would have preferred having a different trait exaggerated however (Because no one sees the Wizard of Oz and thinks, "Hot diddly dam the lion is such a cool character"). sO YEAH, well, while thats out of the way, lets talk about the important stuff, humor. Our's is more or less, used to convey the story, it didn't seem to be a big focus at the time but it still plays a somewhat important part. We've tried to include a message that really speaks to our audience, which is if you are determined to do something you can do it. The way we explain this is by the protagonists helping someone overcome their shyness to get their wish granted. So yeah, if I'm being honest with myself I could have done better but, hey, it's all fine. Yeah, while this is all fine and stuff, I think the main problem I've had was, well, I've never worked with the people I was on the team with, so that's definitely a problem. Our productivity kinda wavered between person to person, I didn't want to have to work on a majority of the scenes but I made really good ones, as others had their own levels of productivity which, well, if you read their blogs you'd likely find out, I sure don't know. Our biggest challenge would likely be that some of our members didn't really know how to animate, which well, when you are making an animated video, is kinda a problem. And the best moment during production would likely be, well, I don't really know, I think for me it was during the last stretch of my scene, but I couldn't speak for the others, so I don't know.
Anyways, this is Micah, signing off, then on, then off again.- So hey hello äloha, so today, in GT, it's Thursday (I lied, it's Wednesday) but nah, more seriously however is that we will be working on animating... *Dramatic pause* OURSELF-ves! *dun dun daa*. But yeah, we'll be making .gifs, and other goodies with ourselves but I mean, you need to know ourselves right? So that's where we begin. I consider myself witty, maybe not as witty as much as I should be called witty but, eh, it gets me by, oh, and I guess I'm pretty humorous, but that kinda comes with the witty package. Some lovely imperfections of mine probably have to be that, 1. I have a tiny bit of a social stutter/repeating myself, it's mostly when I'm having trouble thinking of what to say. 2. I'm very aware of my surrounds whenever I really shouldn't and sometimes focusing is a task more impossible then that one movie's plot/quest, the lord of the rings? Man that was a good series, did you know one scene that had the elf dude, he was like totally in character and that was awesome, and the dude that played Gandalf made it so some of the lines were more true to the book. and there is so many games based on it like man there's just too many good ones to count like have you ever played middle earth: shadow of mordor, it's really cool because it's mechanics are so well made. like wow video games and movies are so cool wait oh right, the list. 3. I have trouble finishing lists, or at least, this one.
So uh, "fun" fact, I wrote most of this and it got deleted, so here is the quick notes of HOW TO MAKE A COOL GIF CHARACTER, one take a picture of yourself without limbs touching and with a solid color background. Two upload it to photoshop, select the background and inverse your selection, copy your character and past it in a new layer. Three, now use the puppet warp tool, make a new layer for each time you want to edit the puppet warping, and you should be good. As for how I like the animating style? Well, it isn't the worse.
So hey hello good morning, hows it hanging, how's your day? So in GT, we are preparing for a fiiillllmmm festiiiivaaalll YEAH! FIREWORKS :D. But uh, there is a few things we better go over. More precisely, keywords. NOW YOU MAY BE ASKING YOURSELF IN CAPS LOCK? "Micah, hwuts a keyword?" Well, it's a phrase used in multiple types of media that's substantial in the story like in FEZ (A game) the keyword is Fez, because that's basically how you get to play the game, no spoilers from me though.
So uh. (Will be fixed during the weekend)
So now, what's the biggest challenge our team has faced?... Well it's pretty dang hard to be getting our stuff on time, which is quite worrying for me grade wise, and really, really makes me wish I was here sooner, because I was on vacation. But current challenges include filming, me - being late and pretty inaccessible, and uh, well I think we have good teamwork. I just need to throw this out there because I just hate the fact that I'm late and I couldn't choose a team that was perfect for me, but heck, maybe it's for the better, I get to work around things and find ways to suit me. But yeah I'm pretty sure that's it.
This is M1cah, with a one in his name, bye. |
